Our commitment
We want this website to work well for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text or higher contrast. Our guide for this is the international standard for accessible websites, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, and we aim for its middle level, level AA, which is the level generally expected of public bodies. We also write this website in plain language, and every evidence synthesis we publish comes with a plain-language summary.
What we provide
- A clear structure with headings, a skip to content link, and full keyboard navigation.
- Strong contrast between text and background colours, so text is easy to read.
- Text descriptions for images and diagrams.
- A Listen button on every page that reads the page aloud using your device's built-in speech.
- Respect for your system's reduce motion setting, which also stops the moving shield on the home page.
- Text that can be resized in your browser.
Language
The site is written in English. Most browsers can translate it into other languages, usually from the address bar or by right-clicking the page and choosing Translate.
Known limitations
The site is new and some content is still illustrative. If something does not work for you, we would like to know.
